Huddling Place
With the COVID-19 pandemic, and working at home now, I was reminded of
one of my all-time science fiction stories: "Huddling Place," by
Clifford D. Simak. It was the sequel to "City," published two months
earlier, and both stories became the foundation for the novel
City. While it is not in the public domain, I decided
nonetheless to transcribe it and put it online. As with Finnegans
Wake, if anyone with actual authority asks me to remove it, of
course I will. Again, I'm just counting on the likelihood that nobody
will really care that much.
Here is the HTML. Because it is a
short story, and because the novel City is available in Kindle
form from Amazon,
I won't bother to create a Kindle version.
Enjoy!
